The Ghost Club is already making waves on the alternative pop scene, and new single “All I Know” further anchors that success. The song, produced by Eric Palmquist, describes maturing and evolving as an artist in an easily relatable fashion, admitting, “all I know for sure is we just ain’t kids anymore.” Alongside the release, The Ghost Club dropped an animated music video created by Anthony Cona.
“‘All I Know’ was written as a nod to those who inspired me to be a musician,” shares Domenic Dunegan, the mastermind behind The Ghost Club. “I learned that to mature as an artist I have to chase what I think sounds best, not what I think others would think sounds best.”
Dunegan realized his love of music while he was studying film in 2016. His dad took him to a Bruce Springsteen concert and he left the show with a new perspective. By 2018 he was working on music of his own, and he often cites Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” as an influence, wanting to create an updated version of the song’s sound.
“That was the guiding light,” Dunegan told Substream Magazine. “I had gotten myself into a position where I was able to confidently sing and play at the same time. It was a long process to get here, but it was worth it. The sound is simultaneously stripped-back and big. It’s meant to be familiar, because there are a lot of nostalgic influences. I’m importing those into a modern context.”
