Summer Years encourage fans to make the most of their days and make their aspirations a reality on pop-punk anthem “This Light,” which insists you should “be yourself, you’ll get through.” Released alongside a breezy music video, the song is just as exhilarating as you’d expect from a group with “summer” in their name.

“’This Light’ is about the idea that it’s not too late to pursue what you have always dreamed of,” vocalist Nick Lanari explains. “And battling the idea of ‘I’ll start working toward it tomorrow’ [where] tomorrow never seems to come. Live your best life now. Today. Find your way to thrive. Failure is not eternal, pain is not eternal, your past doesn’t define you, you can’t live there forever.”

Already receiving acclaim from sites like Rock Sound for its feel-good sound and melodic energy, “This Light” is the first single from You Can’t Live There Forever, the band’s upcoming EP set to be released with ENCI Records. The project draws inspiration from iconic pop-punk acts like Jimmy Eat World and Blink-182, and the video shoot for “This Light” even offered a sweet sign for their future success.

“We filmed some drone shots at the very end of the day, and none other than [Blink-182 cofounder] Tom Delonge drove by us in his big Ford Raptor in Encinitas,” Lanari shares. “It was epic. A good omen even. We just wanted to kind of say, ‘Hey this is who we are, and this is what our world is like. This is Summer Years.’ And I think we captured that really well.”
