Mixing the R&B sound of artists like Bryson Tiller with the emotional angst of artists like The Kid LAROI, Ike Rhein is a versatile young artist you need on your radar! His latest single with Luh Kel, “Messed It Up,” is a heartwrenching look at how blind optimism and hope can prevent us from seeing the reality of a relationship, and it’s a brutally honest account of a breakup that feels paralyzing. The lyrics are clever but also accessible and universal, offering comfort to anyone else dealing with a similar situation.

“This song means a lot to me!” Ike excitedly tells TREMG. “A lot of blood, sweat, and tears in this song, and a lot of emotion. So happy to finally get to release it to my fans.”

Ike debuted on the R&B scene in 2019 with the release of “1,500 Miles,” and the now-20-year-old is ready to go miles above. “1,500 Miles” was a cheerful message to a lover, promising unconditional support over a radio-ready beat. While the song is catchy in its own right, its mastery pales in comparison to how confident and assured Ike comes off on “Messed It Up,” showing off how much he’s matured as an artist and proving his potential to become a musical powerhouse.

“The growth has been tremendous,” Ike reflects. “Looking back at that single and where I started, it’s just amazing. I’ve grown musically, mentally, and business-wise.”

If “Messed It Up” is any indication, there’s even more growth for Ike in the future. He continues to push himself lyrically and sonically in new directions while still staying true to his vision as an artist. With new music and live shows coming up on the horizon, there’s no limit to where he can take his career!

Congrats on your new single, “Messed It Up!” What does the song mean to you?

This song means a lot to me! A lot of blood, sweat, and tears in this song, and a lot of emotion. So happy to finally get to release it to my fans.

How does it feel to let “Messed It Up” out into the world?

Feels so, so good! I think the world will love this song for years to come.

Is there a certain lyric from “Messed It Up” that you’re particularly proud of?

“This fanatical love that we had, it ended oh so bad.” I particularly love that line. Sometimes in relationships, we are just living in fantasies before we are brought back down to earth.

What was it like to work with Luh Kel?

It was good! Really good team to work with, and he really added a lot to the song. The music video was pretty fun to shoot as well.

You started writing songs and playing music at a young age. Who were some of your early inspirations, and who are your influences now?

It’s been Justin Bieber for as long as I can remember. It still is! To me, he’s the king of pop and has had a big influence on my style.

How do you feel you’ve grown as an artist since releasing “1,500 Miles” in 2019?

The growth has been tremendous. Looking back at that single and where I started, it’s just amazing. I’ve grown musically, mentally, and business-wise.

We at TREMG love getting to know new artists who haven’t gotten the success or attention they deserve. Who are some of your favorite underrated artists at the moment?

Tate McRae for sure. She’s already extremely well known, but I personally believe she is a powerhouse and will be a mega superstar.

What can your fans look forward to in 2022?

Lots of new music, lots of new shows, and a lot of my heart!
