I lay in my bed at night sometimes praying, sometimes pondering my day, and sometimes asking myself strange questions.

if I ask Google how old the universe is, it tells me 13.8 billion years. It also says the earth is 4.543 billion years old. Google also says the sun is 4.603 billion years old.

More than 99% of the four billion species that have evolved on earth are now extinct. It is estimated that up to 500 species have gone extinct in just the last 100 years.

 Why does this matter?

Some people believe the earth is only a little older than 6000 years old. That God created us in his image and that we all have to live a certain way or we perish into the depths of hell.

I’ve been told by a lot of people I’m going to hell. The ones that mean it, say it like Justin if you don’t change your ways you are going to hell. Most of them don’t even know where the word hell even comes from.

The evolution of that word the and words it is derived from. The thought process or philosophy behind it. They just read it in the Bible and it sounds legit. In fact, I don’t believe they know who wrote the Bible or who picked the books to be in the Bible or that books were even sought through and picked from. But I’m going to hell, they’re going to heaven and I’m still going to ask this question:

Is God evolving?

In the very beginning of the Bible, you have a man and a woman, and you have one rule: don’t eat from that tree. Of course, they did and two chapters over you got 10 rules.

Every religion across the board is known for rules; What you can’t eat. What you can eat. There seem to be a lot of rules just about procreation. This is weird, I guess everyone wants to know what the birds and bees are up to and if they are doing it right.

My dad tried to give me the birds and the bees speech as a kid, super awkward. I remember thinking either that bird is going to eat that bee, or that bee is going to sting that bird. Either way that bee is going to die.

I don’t think he understood how much of a nerd I was, or he wouldn’t have even bothered with that conversation at all.

So anyway we have all these rules and a few more chapters go by and Bam, you can’t stop breaking all the rules, so this guy is here to lighten your load, Walla.

Now granted I’m trying to take a large conversation and minimize it. If you look at the overall picture. Does it not show the evolution of the mind process? The thinking?

There’s a process of trying to make things work. One rule, now 10, then a lot. Now someone to help along the way. Is that not evolution.

When I was a child, I did things like a child. Now that I am a man, I put those childish things away. A learning process of evolution. I started one way and finished another, and that’s just the mentality changing. What about the physical?

If our God, or Gods, the process of thinking can evolve. What can he do with 13.8 billion years in the physical process?

  1. Dear Justin

Many thanks for your post. As regards hell, it helps to understand that this word has been incorrectly used. I explain here if you are interested.

Satan likes rules, lots of them. he can then control and subjugate the Children of God.

God has only two real rules or commands, in reality guidance , as you can never make rules for every eventuality in life, although some people try.

The greatest commands are in essence love God and love your neighbour as yourself. Finding out what this means might be considered evolution as one changes and becomes wiser (hopefully!).

Of course we exist in the mind of God. Even God exist in His mind. He made His children in the beginning as twinkles in His mind’s eye, in His thoughts. He has followed their progress ever since.

But it hasn’t been 13.8 billion years so far. God would have been bored to tears if some things took that long.

As to God evolving, well His children change and grow up. As they are part of Him, perhaps then God does evolve. As evolve is an anagram of ‘ve love’, which sounds like ‘We love’ and God is love, well it all makes sense in that way.

    Kind regards

Please excuse the nom-de-plume, this is as much for fun as a riddle for people to solve if they wish.
