Known as the original Queen B, Lil Kim was born Kimberly Denise Jones in Brooklyn, NYC. She has a book out now that you can purchase here.

She was the first female to be considered a contender in the hardcore rap genre, with her debut record honing the same name, Hardcore. Kim cites Mc Lyte and The Lady of Rage as her initial influences in music. She began rapping as a pastime to distract herself from the street life. When her sex buddy turned best friend, Christopher Wallace asked her to join Junior Mafia, she said yes. With the financial backing of Puffy Combs’ label, they created a global sound that would eventually be known as east coast rap.

Check out our gallery of her fashion highlights through her twenty plus year music career.
