Microsoft is shutting down Mixer live streaming gaming service on July 22nd this year. Microsoft plans to partners with Facebook Gaming to bring the best for both firms, it’s viewers and streamers. It is a big surprise that caught viewers, most especially Mixer streamers off guard.

Mixer had this long coming. It was clear the live streaming gaming firm was trying to make up with its low monthly active viewers compared to its opposite giant, Twitch, and others like Youtube and Facebook gaming. Mixer tried to meet up its target by bringing on board streamers like ninja, shroud, and King Gothalion. None actually produced the outcome expected.


Mixer’s partnership with Facebook gaming is definitely a boost by increasing its broad audience. Current Mixer Partners will get partner status with Facebook Gaming. To Microsoft’s advantage, its strategic partnership with Facebook will promote its upcoming xCloud game streaming service, pursuing farther it’s vision to reach 2 billion gamers on xCloud.


What’s in it for Streamers? After years of commitments, time, and money invested, many will be dishearted. However, it a chance to grow and monetize streams. It going to be easier for streamers to be discovered. More opportunities to gain new audiences without sacrificing the old ones.
