Whether you like him or not, you have to admit, Jim Carrey is a magnetic performer. In every movie he is always the most physical and animated. Doing weird faces and funny voices. Waving his body around all crazy. And The Mask (1994) is peak Jim Carrey. I have a hard time believing that this film wasn’t written specifically for him. Just watch this scene:

I can’t imagine any other actor playing that role, let alone pull it off. I don’t really have much more to say about the movie. It’s OK. Perfectly fine. Put it’s worth the watch simply for the energy Jim Carrey brings to the movie. If you like him. You’ll like this movie. The Mask is basically all the goofy wacky Jim Carrey shtick found in Ace Ventura or Dumb and Dumber but multiplied by 100. That is either enough to turn you off completely or put this at the top of your watch-list. There isn’t really much else for me to say. You can watch it now on U.S. Hulu. I give it 6 Jim Carrey catch phrases out of 10.
