The world needs to see the story of Calvin Ellis of Earth 23 on the big screen. The upcoming The Flash: Flashpoint movie that DC Comics is preparing will open up the greatest weapon that DC Comics owns. The Multiverse. This opportunity should usher in a new Superman.

The Superman of this earth is named Kal-El. He is the last son of the doomed planet Krypton. He has an alter ego named Clark Kent. Kent is a mild-mannered reporter for a newspaper in Metropolis called the Daily Planet.

This is the Superman who first appeared in comics. He’s been portrayed by legendary names in movies, on television, and on the radio. But one of the greatest powers in comics is the DC Comics Multiverse. Industry trades like the Hollywood Reporter are already talking about the potential of Flashpoint to change the DCEU.

The multiverse is an infinite and ever-expanding list of universes that are similar to our own but either slightly, or significantly different. They exist in the spaces right next to us and are separated by vibrational frequencies. The heroes of each world contain a lifetime of stories. One of them is Calvin Ellis.

On Earth-23 the spaceship of Kalel crash-landed. His parents Jorel and Lara took a chance on life moments before their planet of Krypton exploded. Kalel was discovered by a poor family who named him Calvin. He was raised to stand and fight for what’s right.

Unlike Clark Kent, Calvin Ellis strove for the highest office in the land and was elected President of the United States. He is an example of the potential that exists in a world that is similar to our own. It’s an example that has thrived in comics and deserves the chance to shine on the silver screen.

“I’ve been rumored to play Morpheus to Superman to Power Rangers and everything in between, so it’s like, I’m kind of used to the rumors I’m playing something,” he said. “But anything that I do dive into has to be done the right way. It has to be full of authenticity.”

Michael B. Jordan — Interview with MTV.Com

In an interview with MTV, Jordan said that there would need to be specific elements within the character and the story for him to agree to a Superman project, and stressed that authenticity would be key to his decision to play the iconic character. The great thing about Calvin Ellis is that it is an original take on the origin of Superman.

Currently, Warner Brothers have raised concerns about its faith in Henry Cavill starring in the next Superman movie. This could be the perfect opportunity to tell the story of more than one Superman on the movie screens. In fact, a new Man of Steel might be open the chance to tell the story of every version of Superman.

That in turn raises a multiverse of possibilities.
