Following BTS’s last online concert “Bang Bang Con: The Live,” the boys came back with another virtual concert “Map of the Soul ON:E.” Due to COVID-19, the earlier set world tour due in May 2020 was rescheduled indefinitely. Since their earlier comeback in February, the band hasn’t been able to perform in front of their fans, A.R.M.Y.s, in a while. The goal was to have both in-person and online concert was ultimately all virtual due to a spike in COVID cases in South Korea. But nonetheless, BTS performed a jaw dropping show on October 10 and 11.
The setlist consist of newer songs such as “Dynamite” and “Boy With Luv”. Fan favorite songs like “Dope,” “IDOL,” and ” We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal” were sung. And debut song “No More Dream” with the awesome dance break was also performed. Solo performances were performed by all seven members with their respective songs. Unit group includes the rap line performing “UGH!” and vocal line singing “00:00 (Zero O’ Clock).” The concert had some awesome graphics throughout the show, A.R.M.Y.s were seen a few times on huge screens, the venue was riddled with Army Bombs, the band’s official light-sticks to give the effect of a regular concert, and even has moments of fans cheering in the background.
For each concert, BTS was trending on Twitter. Notable moments includes Jimin’s tearful closing statement on the first night voicing out his frustration over the ongoing pandemic, Jungkook’s “My Time” stage absolutely killed the timeline, “We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal” bringing us all to tears, and so much more.
The concert ended with the band sending encouraging and thankful statements to the fans and expressed their eagerness to once again perform in front of fans . Suga thanked the staffs making the virtual concert possible and talked briefly about COVID’s impact on the industry. “I have no religion. But I thank God that we live in 2020. I thank God that we have this technology so we can be connected… And I thank God that we can do this, at least we can do this,” said RM on his Sunday closing statement.
With Map of the Soul ON:E ending successfully, BTS is expected to make a comeback with a new album titled “BE” to be released on November 20, 2020.
