Two years after the release of the Christmas-themed Netflix Original film, “The Christmas Chronicles 2” sets its sights on coming to the service once again to bring another holiday film to Netflix’s growing list.

Set a couple of years after the first film, Teddy, played by Judah Lewis, and Kate, played by Darby Camp, are adjusting to life as their mother, played by Kimberly Williams-Paisley, has begun dating again with the family and his son Jack, played by Jahzir Bruno, going to Cancun for Christmas. Upset at the way her family is becoming, Kate decides to run away but ends up with Jack in the North Pole. Kate and Jack soon run into Santa Claus, played by Kurt Russell, and Mrs. Claus, played by Goldie Hawn, who are excited to see Kate once again. But, their reunion will be filled with mischief as a magical trickster named Belsnickel, played by Julian Dennison, threatens to put a stop to the North Pole and Christmas.

With “The Christmas Chronicles 2,” original director Clay Kaytis, director of “The Angry Birds Movie,” is replaced with “Home Alone” and “Harry Potter” director Christopher Columbus. The film also brings back most of the original cast along with expanding Hawn’s involvement, which was a cameo in the first film.
