One of the latest artists to combine elements of hip-hop and rock, boyband makes a statement all of his own with his new music video for “by myself.” The song tackles the aftermath of an overbearing relationship when one partner asks for space, and the clip appropriately shows boyband alone in different environments.
The simplicity of the video, directed by Ana Peralta Chong, lets the lyrics and boyband’s Grammy-nominated talents take center stage, while the flickering outfit changes and artsy sneaker shots are fun for teenage and young adult viewers.
Warning: The music video contains flashing images – viewer discretion is advised for people with photosensitivity.
“by myself” is the newest offering from boyband’s sophomore album, never knows best, due June 18th via Dirty Hit Records. The project tackles mental health and personal struggle, sometimes through different personas – previous single “fooly cooly” draws from the perspective of Mamimi from FLCL with a Juice WRLD-esque flair.
You can check out “by myself” on your favorite streaming services now, as well as connecting with boyband on Instagram, Twitter, and Twitch! Keep an eye out for his album never knows best next month.
