One of the key traits of the punk music scene is that everyone is welcome, and now you can rock out with your kids thanks to The First Rock Band on Mars. The pop-punk supergroup includes Sleeping With Sirens vocalist Kellin Quinn, former Yellowcard vocalist Ryan Key, Ballyhoo! vocalist Howi Spangler, and former Silhouette Rising member James DiNanno, who wrote the book that inspired the group’s creation.
DiNanno released his children’s book The First Rock Star on Mars last year, a story about a music festival on the red planet that inspires young readers to reach for the stars and follow their dreams. The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album on June 11th, just in time for Father’s Day and the summer. The story is also set to be turned into an animated series, making it even more engaging for families.

“When my son Caden was born, I was compelled to create this animated, musical universe that inspires the current generation of children and their parents,” DiNanno explains. “It’s been very rewarding creating the book, album and cartoon. I think it’s going to be an equally fun journey for the families exploring it.”
Kellin Quinn adds, “I think it’s important for parents and their kids to have a song that they’re both into, one that doesn’t feel punishing to put on in the car or at home and listen to. That’s what we set out to accomplish.”
You can check out The First Rock Star on Mars everywhere books are sold, and keep an eye out for The First Rock Band on Mars’ self-titled record on June 11th!
