Claudia Valentina shrugs off doubts and fear on “C’est La Vie,” her first release of the year and her first single since releasing her self-titled debut EP last year. The electro-infused track casually describes the ups and downs of life over a bouncy beat, commanding the listener’s attention in a fresh, exciting way while tackling topics everyone deals with.

“‘C’est La Vie’ is about my self-destructive ‘fuck it, that’s life’ attitude,” Valentina admits. “I wrote it about my journey as a musician trying to make it since I was a kid and my all-or-nothing mentality of going hard or going home. It’s about not taking life too seriously and even when things aren’t going your way, you just have to get up and keep on the hustle.”

Valentina was born in Guernsey, a small island between England and France, and fell in love with music from a young age. She acted in a West End production of Billy Elliot at age ten before moving to Los Angeles at 12 to pursue music. At 13, Swedish mastermind Johan Carlsson (Ariana Grande, Katy Perry) advised her to focus on “life experience” rather than diving into a career, and Valentina started channeling her energy into honing her craft instead of worrying about commercial success. Evidently, she made the right choice, and “C’est La Vie” is the start of an exciting new chapter for the songstress.
