Valentine’s Day may be a month away, but that’s perfect enough time to get a playlist together celebrating your singlehood and enjoying every minute of your freedom! Thankfully for you, I’ve happily put together a sample of songs you might consider adding to a running playlist you already have. Or, you could also just adopt all of these ditties for a fresh new playlist!

Marina & The DiamondsHow To Be A Heartbreaker”

If someone had taught me how to be a heartbreaker way back when, I wouldn’t have had as many broken hearts as I did. It’s a super tough dating world out there and putting up some walls and learning some how-to’s for your well-being is necessary. And smart.

Ciara “I Bet”

The Grass IS greener on the other side! Just ask Ciara (and check out her wonderful life and family on Instagram) for proof! Her moving-on ballad, which you can listen to by clicking the song title above, is perfect for you if it seems like it’s going to be too hard to get over an ex. Spoiler alert: it isn’t! All you need is you.

Keri Hilson “Pretty Girl Rock”

Ultimate confidence booster jam!

Demi Lovato “Confident”

Speaking of an ultimate confidence booster…

Hailee Steinfeld “Love Myself”

At first, this song seems to be all about putting yourself first. But this song heard at the of the movie “How To Be Single” is about so much more. Never fear, though. It’s still about not needing a significant other.

Who Is Fancy “Goodbye”

I know that I can find somebody

You won’t ever find nobody else like me”

Dua Lipa “New Rules”

Beyoncé “Best Thing I Never Had”

Of course Queen B was bound to pop up on this list. Hindsight is 20/20 they say, and this song demonstrates this in spades! Looking back on some past relationships, flirtationships, situationships, etc., you can’t help but celebrate dodging a particular bullet. You know the one. Or two. Or three or four…

Beyoncé “Run the World (Girls)”

Because we do.

Natasha Bedingfield “Single”

I’d be completely shocked if this toe-tapper isn’t already in one of your female-centric playlists. Be single because you love your freedom and it’ll take someone pretty damn special to change that. Got nosy relatives who question why you’re still single? Don’t answer. Just play this for them!

Joss Stone “Bruised But Not Broken”

Kelly Clarkson “Whole Lotta Woman”

As a Texas gal myself, I loved all the references in this song! Are you a “whole lotta woman and a strong, badass chick with class and confidence”? You will be after blasting Ms. Clarkson’s fun number.

Destiny’s Child “Independent Women, Pt. II”

We aren’t alone being single this Valentine’s Day. So let’s come together and realize all we need to accomplish anything is ourselves. I grew up with the most independent woman for a mother. She showed me what it means to be independent in my own right, and to live my life how I want to. Make your own, ladies, and you won’t owe a thing to your S.O. Side note: I love this version so much more than Pt. I, heard on the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack.

Joanna Pacitti “Watch Me Shine”

I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be.

Legally Blonde

All of us definitely remember the scene when this song was played in the move “Legally Blonde”. Elle realized the only way she was going to prove her worth was all by herself! And she did. It was the ultimate girl-power montage!

Ariana Grande “7 Rings”

Rihanna “Take A Bow”

Few things hurt worse than being cheated on by a S.O. But rest assured it helps when you can slam the door in their face, chuck all of their belongings from your space a la Bernadine in “Waiting to Exhale”, and blast this Rihanna favorite. It’s going to be a huge, useless weight lifted from your life.

JoJo “Leave (Get Out)”

Oh, to be young, and to feel love’s keen sting.

Albus Dumbledore

Remember breaking up with that first love in high school thinking that you’d never recover? The heart break was real, yeah. But it was a lifetime ago and now you’re thriving! They were “just a waste of time” and you learned a good lesson from that small blimp from your younger years. Even if this classic doesn’t dredge up memories, it’s a crazy-good sing-a-long song to karaoke with friends!

Me’Shell NdegéOcello “Fool of Me”

Little Mix “Shout Out to My Ex”

If you’ve ever wanted to write out a letter to — or about — an ex, it should sound like this!

Nicki Minaj “The Night Is Still Young”

This anthem is all about living life to the fullest and in the now! Our current climate is forcing us to take a step back and reevaluate what it means to not take anything for granted.

Daya “Sit Still, Look Pretty”

Sing it loud, sing it proud: “This queen don’t need a king!”

Starley “Call On Me (Ryan Riback Remix)”

Christina Aguilera “Can’t Hold Us Down”

Clearly Ms. Aguilera knew what she was talking about when she belted this 2002 banger. Women cannot and should not ever be inferior. We should always remember this! An anthem meant for females of the past, present, and future…

Lizzo “Good As Hell”

Lizzo “Truth Hurts”

These two songs from Lizzo definitely have all of us feeling ourselves. They’re perfect pick me ups if we tend to feel way too single sometimes. Nobody can make you feel like the true goddess you are except yourself! And what better time to start tapping into that potential than when you’re unequivocally and unashamedly single and blasting Lizzo in the background while singing at the top of your lungs. Put the sing in single!

Megan Thee Stallion “Savage”

Beyoncé “Formation”

Who better to close out this list than Bey herself? And her song Formation is the ultimate “I’m female and killing the game” mantra! It’s all the motivation you need to get up and show everyone how it’s done. Even if it’s all by your damn self. Prove societal norms, and maybe a few ex’s, wrong because the “best revenge is your paper”.
