Japan’s former PM Shinzo Abe has died at the age of 67 after being shot during a speech at a campaign event for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the city of Nara in western Japan on Friday, Japan’s NHK television reports. According to local media, a suspect has been arrested following the incident and remains in custody. The White House said it was “shocked and saddened” to hear about the shooting of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
