Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), the first openly gay U.S. senator alongside Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio) whose has an openly gay son, and Thom Tillis (N.C.), and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) were the ones who wanted the bill to pass. It took work from LGBTQ rights groups and religious organizations to complete the feat.





Marsha Blackburn voted against marriage equality and then walked through the Senate subway wearing these glasses.
There’s a lot of conservatives who did not vote.
