Liv Hanna kicked off the summer with the fiery track, “Back To Hell.” The songstress now returns to close out the fall with her new single, “lonely.” Similarly to “Back To Hell,” Liv Hanna puts her unique, distinctive twist on the Pop genre. “lonely” may best be viewed as an Alt-Pop/Dark Pop record, but the song is more eclectic in nature as it features synths, the ebb and flow of up-tempo and downtempo sounds, and has elements drawn from Electropop, Pop Rock, etc.

The subject matter of “lonely” may be gleaned from the title, but the song is actually deeper than the title suggests. The song is about the seemingly perfect life that is more so imperfect. “‘lonely’ takes you behind the scenes of someone’s life that people think is perfect.” Liv Hanna continues, “It highlights the club scene and life of a socialite who’s always out on the town, but actually feels immense loneliness.” “lonely” illustrates how many put up a facade, or use a party or an ostentatious lifestyle to hide their pain, fear, angst, etc.
The song cleverly uses the contrasting sounds to perfectly depict the story that Liv Hanna penned through the mix of flashy, wavy sounds and soft, somber tones. Renowned producer Jake Sonderman was enlisted by Liv Hanna to craft the infectious record. “lonely” really demonstrates the versatility that Liv Hanna possesses, and showcases her creative, introspective/extrospective songwriting and powerful, mellifluous vocals.
“lonely” may be a standalone single, but it is a prelude of what’s to come. Liv Hanna already has multiple releases scheduled to set off the new year. At only 20 years old, the rising sensation is just getting started. Press play and put “lonely” on repeat.

We had the opportunity to chat briefly with the rising star and this is what she had to say about her latest release and more…
NEWS IN PROGRESS: How long did it take you to make “lonely” from inception to release?
LIV HANNA: “lonely” was actually written a few years ago, and I had put it on the back burner for some time. It wasn’t until my producer, Jake Sonderman, and I were listening to snippets of songs and ideas that I had written that we landed on “lonely,” and decided that was our next project. When I first wrote the single, it was almost a ballad type piece, being written solely with piano and voice. We started working on the song in July, and it took a completely different turn; for the better! Both with busy schedules, it took a few months before we had our finished product ready to be released in November 2023.
NIP: What can new listeners expect to learn about your artistry from this track?
LH: I would say that my writing style is both self-reflective and introspective. I tend to write about personal experiences or feelings that I have regarding a specific person or situation.
NIP: What motivates you to keep creating and exploring your art?
LH: I am motivated by my fans and the people who have not yet heard my music as I believe it could help them in whatever they may be going through. I believe music is a universal healer, and I hope to continue to share my music and messages with the world. I am motivated to keep exploring my art as I further my career considering people change as they grow, and my sound might very well change and grow along with me. I think it’s important to not knock any genre and to not put yourself in a box. As artists, we are individuals who we should be encouraged to explore and create in whatever way, shape, or form and remember that it’s okay to change your image, sound, etc.
NIP: What’s your biggest highlight of 2023?
LH: The biggest highlight of 2023, in my opinion, was working on “Back To Hell,” releasing it, and seeing the results. I have grown immensely this year both as a person and an artist, and I truly think this song redefined my image – if that makes sense. I let go of previous management this year, changed my image, and made a new website on my own. Being able to express myself freely as an artist was extremely important to me, and I feel as though “Back To Hell” was the beginning of that chapter for me.
NIP: What are your goals for 2024?
LH: In 2024, I plan to release more music and grow my fan base! I plan to release 4-6 singles throughout the year and hope to perform much more than I have been. I plan to be more active on my socials with sharing my music and am so excited for what’s to come!
