An obituary is the notice of someone’s death. It is placed in the newspaper to alert others to the death. It gives a background about the deceased’s life, usually listing survivors and giving funeral information. This would be our first.
Jessica Cody Geraghty Obituary
Jessica Cody Geraghty, 37, of Norwalk, entered eternal life on January 7, 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Dennis Geraghty and Karen Elliott Cody. She was subsequently predeceased by her birth father and lovingly reared by her mother and adoptive father, George Cody.
Jessica attended grammar, middle, and high school in Trumbull and graduated from St. Joseph High School. She then entered UCONN and earned a degree in journalism. She embarked on a career in journalism, most recently as a freelance writer. She was a prolific author of numerous articles and broadcast scripts, most of which focused on politics, business, and science. She was a devoted Christian and active in churches in both Connecticut and New Jersey.
Jessica had a tremendous heart for animals and loved waterfalls and exploring nature. She is survived by her mother, Karen Cody, adoptive father George Cody, maternal grandparents Tom and Kay Elliott, brother Thomas Cody, sister Anne Cody, and many other loving Cody, Elliott, and Geraghty family members.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-4PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue in Norwalk, with a prayer service to begin at 3:15 PM. Other services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a non-profit that Jessica believed in passionately, AbleChild (AbleChild.org). My name is Tahyira and I own this website. I met Jessica around 2020, when I was on a mission to find GOP supporters who were brave enough to speak out against the pending insurrection that ended up happening in the beginning of 2021. Jessica covered those stories with passion. Below you’ll find some of our conversations offline. We were planning a big media haul with a new political facing podcast that Jessica was to head up. I thought Jess was just so passionate about her points of view and she had an electricity about her. She traveled to our 5th year gala, which is the photo you see at the top. She was my friend. We shared the understanding that women speaking out, no matter which side you stood on, was important. We wanted to create more seats at an open table. She was raised by her Jewish grandmother and would offer wisdom from that space. Me as well. I was raised by my Trinidadian grandmother. We used to laugh off and say, hey we’re already grandmothered-in so we have to keep going. To say that she will be missed is an understatement. I am sad. Call it depressed even. But I am so gracious to have met her, worked with her, helped her, paid her, and honor her writing work. We love you Jessica. You will be remembered here, forever.
