As we enter Negro Week this week, we wanted to highlight some of the current generation of Black activism. Tahyira Savanna has been vocal about Criminal Justice reform since 2013 after she used her Facebook feed to share information regarding the Trayvon Martin murder case. Stand Your Ground was the law that allowed for then neighborhood watchmen, George Zimmerman, to get away with the murder of the 17 year old. Martin’s case sent shockwaves around the world when a copy of the 9-11 call hit the public. Martin’s screams for help can be heard in the background as neighbors chose to not get involved. The event was a spark. Black Americans started raising the volume on why they are routinely killed justly in a country that was built upon the enslavement of their African descendents. It begged the question, do Black lives matter in the United States.

Activist Hour is a reaction based online series created with short vertical free form micro content originally airing on Instagram TV. During Black History Month, I did extensive research on the reconstruction era and what Lincoln hoped for the Friedman’s Bureau. May brings us closer to #Juneteenth and our collective understanding of emotional intelligence in the #BlackCommunity at the same time we’re living in a time where the #NAACP is still sending Jim Crow like travel warnings for states like Florida. White fragility is the results of white privilege and the establishment in the United States fighting for race wars instead of collectiveness and equity for every American. It’s easier for us to fight things we cannot change instead of working together to create space for all of humanity. The founding fathers asked to build an innovative nation. In 2023 we have lost our way. I’m trying to find out where.
On this episode of the #TahyirasShow Tee tells Black entrepreneurs why it feels scary but that it’s why we’re here, to build. The ancestors descend during #BlackBusinessMonth and they’re helping millennials find their callings, financial callings. She lays out 5 learning points using her favorite tools, movies and music, using it to help us follow along with her message. What’s free? You.
The Tee Show is more than just a series of interviews, it’s a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about creating change and leaving a positive impact on the world. Tahyira’s guests come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, but they all share a common goal of using their talents and passions to make a difference. From artists and musicians to entrepreneurs and activists, each guest brings a unique perspective and valuable insights to the show.
