I will admit that I first heard about Project 2025 from Taraji P. Henson when she was a hostess at the BET Awards that aired last May. At first, I thought that it could not be as bad as she and other celebrities had stated, but in doing my research that was soon proven to be wrong. Project 2025 is the stuff of nightmares, for it not only greatly diminishes the rights that the average American has come to rely on, but it also threatens to take us back to a time when women, minorities, non-conforming, or the LGBT community rights were either very little or non – existence. Even though we have come so far in having our first American President, we cannot let the Right-Wing Movement take us back to the dark ages, which is what they are suggesting.
As a woman of color and a feminist, you can guess that I naturally have a concern over hard-fought rights either disappearing or being greatly diminished. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe Vs. Wade and Affirmative Action both women and minorities have found it hard to navigate the political climate. However, even with the dire changes the Supreme Court has made in overturning those two landmark cases, it doesn’t come close to what Project 2025 will do to us.
So, what is the big bad wolf of Project 2025? How does it affect me if Trump wins the White House? Well sit back my friends and prepare to be horrified and astonished that anyone could want something like this to not lonely pass but be the law of the land. Project 2025 is a conservative movement from 2023 that is the blueprint for the Trump White House. It was believed it or not by Christian leaders in the spring of 2022. As of July 2024, The Heritage Foundation backed by 110 conservatives proposes restructuring over 30 departments of the federal government. How do they plan to do this, simple Project 2025 is made up of four Pillars that will guide the changing of the government and society. The four pillars are as follows: Policy, Personnel, Training, and the Playbook. Let’s take a deeper look into each pillar and what they suggest should take place in our government. The policy is pillar one and it suggests the following changes to government policies. For instance, it indicates that we chop off the Department of Education, the Department of Homeland Security, the Environment Protection Agency, and the independent Department of Justice. It is with all of these departments either gone completely or critically reduced that the impact it would have on our society is catastrophic. When it comes to the Department of Education the reason why they want to get rid of it is because it is teaching our children to be more inclusive, less racist, and more compassionate. What they want children to learn is a more religious take on both themselves and the world and when I say religious take I mean Christian take, because in their views all other religions are fake moving on to pillar number two, which is Personnel. This pillar suggests a personal plan to recruit and get about 20,000 conservative Christian loyalists to join the next Republican administration. Pillar number three states that an online conservation administrative course that is meant to be used as a recruitment tool should be taught to teach people how Project 2025 policies will be implemented. Candidates who go through the vetting process for their ability to write policy and for their conservative Christian views will be put into either permanent or temporary positions in the new Republic government. The last pillar of Project 2025 is number four, which is a 180-day playbook of specific instructions on how recruits can carry out Project 2025 policies in each assigned federal department, starting on day one of the new administration. So on January 20, 2025, the recruits will be placed into acting or temporary where they are expected to write policies and laws that will give Project 2025 unprecedented decision-making authority. There is also a proposal that Project 2025 is suggesting using signed Executive Orders starting on one day to provide these recruits with the authority to act and implement policy changes.
Now that is just the foundation of what Project 2025 is suggesting for how our country is run, but if that is not scarier enough for you to want to run and vote blue then here are some of the key proposals that Project 2025 is also suggesting. In cases of abortion, they want to criminalize abortion, deny access to birth control, and ban conception procedures like IVF. Doctors could be jailed and women would be prevented from getting the care they need including traveling to other states. Project 2025 bases its theory that life begins at conception, which is senseless because most women don’t know that they are pregnant until they are six weeks. They are also proposing that Mifepristone be withdrawn from the market and that the EPA state that the abortion pills contain a ” forever chemical” that makes it impossible for women to get pregnant again after taking the pill. As for Social Security and Medicare, they are proposing a slash in Social Security and medicare earning benefits. They want to raise the eligibility age to 70. Allowing companies to cut or eliminate overtime pay and to cut 40 million people’s food assistance money. This is just the pointing point. If we as a nation don’t stand up and vote, we are essentially letting the minor rule. Who do not believe in living and letting live nor do they believe in letting people believe what they want to believe, but they believe in destroying your freedom.
How they do this is by dividing the country into those who believe like them and those who don’t believe like them and if you don’t believe like them then you and all of those who are like you need to go to reeducation camps. So that you can join the cult, I mean club and be saved and seen as worthy of living in their new and just society.
Well, I don’t know about you but I don’t want to live in a society that wants to take away my free will and replace it with total obedience to a dictatorial government who is willing to get rid of anyone who does not seem to agree with their program. If you ask me that is not a Christian government but a hate-filled autocratic government and I don’t want any part of it and neither should you. So go out and vote and help our country move forward and not back to the dark ages.
