Organizations Embrace #BlackLivesMatter Movement

It is about time the US population takes attention to the racial discrimination that has been directed towards the African American community over the decades. The protests in numerous cities have gained attention around the world and it looks like it is gaining momentum.

The protests continue to gain support from celebrities including Beyonce and Oprah and more organizations are putting support into change and the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

With cities enforcing a nightly curfew, peaceful protests are continuing. But unfortunately there are a number of individuals who are exploiting the situation and trying to cause trouble, damage and loot properties. But these individuals are not related to the peaceful protesters, they are individuals who are intent of using this situation for their own personal gain.

In an effort to support the peaceful protesters a number of not for profits are opening their doors and offering a safe haven for individuals who need to use a bathroom, charge a mobile device or free wifi access.

A new Twitter account called @OpenYourLobby has been created to list the number of theater foyers that are open and available to the individuals who are protesting in the name of change and fighting racisms.

Some of the venues include:

The Public Theater 425 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10003

Playwrights Horizons 416 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

New York Theater Workshop 79 E 4th St, New York, NY 10003

IRT Theater 154 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014

Atlantic Theater’s Linda Gross Theater 336 W 20th St, New York, NY 10011

The Pershing Square Signature Center 480 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

ART New York’s South Oxford Space 138 S Oxford St, Brooklyn NY 11217

Irondale Center 85 S Oxford St, Brooklyn, NY 11217

But new venues are being added hourly so please check the Twitter account or the hashtag #OpenYourLobby. There is a tremendous amount of love from the not for profit industry that is being directed to the peaceful protests in the hope for a positive change and help the fight against racism.

A VIDEO MESSAGE BY THE RED EYE MEDIA GROUP

We attended the Millions Man March in New York City on Saturday Dec 13th 2014.

The feeling of being surrounded by so many people standing up against injustice, racism, and class warfare was unbelievable. We captured a lot of interesting footage so we compiled the best of it into this heartfelt video-message we are calling ‘#NoHoldsBar’ because we cannot be silenced any longer.

The fight for social change will continue until we can all feel safe in our country. At The Red Eye Media Group we firmly believe that a lost of any life taken senselessly is wrong. All lives matter but our legal system has a serious problem whereas minorities are specifically targeted and time after time given an unfair process of the law. We want to end this.
