Amazon Game Studios just announced that their upcoming MMO New World, will be delayed to Spring 2021. This second delay comes after Amazon’s shooter/MOBA hybrid game was “unreleased” last month. Amazon Game Studios can’t seem to catch a break.
New World was delayed to August due to the ongoing global pandemic and now Amazon Game Studios have said they weren’t happy with where the game was based on alpha testing feedback and wanted to keep adding to the game to make sure players have enough to do once they hit the lategame.
Studio director Rich Lawrence said on the game’s website:
We want our players to feel completely immersed in the game, and know that our studio stands for quality and lasting gameplay you can trust — and that means added time to get things where we want them before we fully release.
As a result, we will be changing our launch date – and correspondingly, our final beta test – to spring 2021. We don’t make the decision lightly, and we have urgency about getting the game to you as quickly as possible at the best quality — with some additions that will make the experience even better.
The new beta dates will be announced closer to spring and here’s hoping this is finally the game that legitimizes Amazon Games Studios. I will definitely give it a try in spring 2021.
