Manic Disorder or Bipolar disorder is a serious mental illness characterized by extreme mood swings. It affects around 3 Million individuals just in the United States, and many experts say that the number is low as diagnosis go unchecked in some areas due to lack of proper tools and resources. Word. It is something that passes down through your genes as well so in many families there is an entire mental health history that is concealed because of stigmas.
There are ups and there are downs. When you’re up, you think you’re a God. That you know celebrities or people who are really grandiose. You feel unstoppable. There is a euphoric high so you don’t run away from it, your mind actually embraces it. Until it drops. And you hit a low, this is known as Manic depression, or the sad face emoji instead of the happy face one. It is an episode meaning they are triggered by different factors. It is a mood disorder and not a personality disorder which is why it is also easier to mask. Unlike saying, the dog was talking to me, or there are people trying to kill me. Though that may come up during one of the episodes.
There are tons of celebs who are open about their struggles with bipolar disorder, as well as our site owner Tahyira. She was diagnosed with acute manic depression when she asked to be put on a 5150 hold in Los Angeles. She was 30 years old and had never went to therapy or had a breakdown. Selena Gomez is open about her anxiety, depression, and told her fans she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder after yet another breakdown. Her pal, Demi Lovato openly struggles with drugs and addiction, Demi also told her fans that she had been diagnosed. Black actress and comedienne Jenifer Lewis is an advocate for the mental illness as she says she struggled for years being sexually active to the point she knew something was wrong. After her diagnosis she got on medication and still visits her therapist when she needs too. She currently stars on the ABC show, Black-ish.

As you see, the illness does not hold you back, if anything it sets you free. But you need to take care of yourself, unlike our friend in the media Mr. West. We can see that he is in the midst of a serious episode but his behavior is dangerous and creates an appetite of dismal when in reality he is suffering, as the rest of the people listed in this piece.
