Russia President Vladimir Putin says the country has developed an effective vaccine against COVID-19.
If true, the vaccine would be the world’s first.
Putin made the announcement on Russian state TV.
We’ll see. Putin says the vaccine was developed by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute. CNN, which reported the news this morning, said Putin announced that one of his daughters has been innoculated with the vaccine. He said she had a slight temperature right after she was vaccinated.
Some scientists, particularly those in the West, fear that Russia has gone too fast in developing the vaccine, and cut too many corners.
