Donald Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah, you read that right.
Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump was nominated for his efforts to broker peace between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
He was nominated by Norwegian member of parliament Christian Tybring-Gjedde.

“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Mr Tybring-Gjedde, a four-term member of parliament, told Sky News, among other news outlets. Tybring-Gjedde is a former member of the Oslo City Council whose chief claim to fame seems to be his anti-immigration stance, although you probably could live 100 more years and never hear his name.
As part of the Mideast deal, announced at the White House last month after what officials said were 18 months of talks, the UAE agreed to normal relations with Israel, while Israel agreed to continue with plans to suspend its annexation of the West Bank.
The UAE-Israeli deal may be a good thing, I don’t know. We’ll see what happens, like Trump loves to say.
But shouldn’t there be some sort of character clause attached to the prize? If so, Trump would fail. He’s a divisive. racist, polarizing bully. He is clearly a misogynist, and is likely more corrupt than we know.
It’s crazy to mention Trump in the same list as winners of the prize.
I’m sure he’ll use his nomination in the presidential campaign against Joe Biden. In any case, sheer numbers mitigate against the likelihood that he’ll win. Last year, more than 300 people were nominated. Trump will win when butterflies fly out of my mouth.
Just knowing he was nominated, though, cheapens the prize.
