I recently had the pleasure of interviewing an up and coming artist by the name of Indigo Wei. While only in her early twenties, Indigo seems to possess the musical knowledge of someone who’s been in the industry for decades. In this brief but interesting sit down I got to know a little bit about the person behind the beats.

DD: Tell me a little bit about yourself. Where are you from and who/what inspired you to become an artist?

IW: I was raised in the rural town of Chance, AL. Raised by my mom and dad and I was inspired mainly by the music producer Timbaland. I like hearing the creative sound he used with his beat(s). I wanted to try and emulate his production style.

DD: What are you thinking when you create a song?

IW: I think about what emotion I’m trying to capture within the song. I usually make things based off what my emotions are at the time and how I’m feeling.

DD: I’ve heard people say “music is medicine for the soul.” Do you believe that?

IW: Yes I believe it because I study Hz and if you put your song in a certain amount of Hz it’s supposed to heal a certain chakra… a certain element of your soul is supposed to be healed.

DD: What is your ultimate goal as an artist?

IW: I just want to make something that people enjoy… make beautiful art.
