Kanye West to potentially run again in 2024 after 2020 loss
After failing to win in the 2020 election, rapper and Birthday Party candidate Kanye West announced via Twitter that he was considering a run during the 2024 Presidential Election.
The move comes after admitting defeat over Twitter in a now-deleted post. West was only on the ballot for 12 states and received 60,509 votes, according to preliminary tallies from the Associated Press. In contrast, both Democratic candidate Joe Biden and Incumbent Republican President Donald Trump have at least 60 million votes.
Originally, West had planned to run in 2024 after meeting with President Trump in 2016 but later changed his mind. One of West’s biggest supporters, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, stated in an interview in July that though he supported West in running it would’ve been better run in 2024 instead.
With the shift now to running in the next major election, Twitter users took the chance to voice their opinions on the future of West in the political sphere.
