K-Pop Style Trends You Can Try At Home

Beyond its catchy music and hardworking stars, k-pop has influenced the fashion world at an undeniable level. It’s not uncommon for idols to partner with the biggest brands on the planet – the four women in BLACKPINK alone have worked with the likes of Celine, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Dior. An important asset of Korean fashion is its playful experimentation and reimagining of everyday pieces – here are some unique styles you can try with things you already have around your home.

  1. Everglow’s “DUN DUN” Jackets

Throughout their “DUN DUN” era, various members of Everglow wore a half jacket, including Sihyeon, Aisha, and Onda. Start by grabbing a slightly loose jacket – put on one sleeve then wrap the other sleeve around your waist. Tuck it into the other side of the jacket, then secure it with a thick belt. You may need to tuck parts of the wrapped sleeve into the belt to disguise bumps, and it could also help to wear a skirt or pants that match the jacket.

  1. Irene’s Fluffy Headband

Irene wears a fun feather headband by Alessandra Rich throughout the music video for Red Velvet’s hit “Psycho.” You can quickly replicate the look by wrapping a feather boa around a headband and securing it with tape or glue.

  1. Minnie’s Layered Skirts

Minnie stole the show in (G)I-DLE’s “LATATA” music video and performances with her trendy layered skirts, which is easy to replicate and a great way to transition summer skirts into the colder months. You can combine two contrasting skirts or skirts with similar patterns for different looks.

  1. Winter’s Sparkly Eye Makeup

aespa’s Winter wore stunning eye makeup during one of her solo scenes in “Black Mamba,” the group’s debut music video. Get the look by putting on shimmery eyeshadow with bold eyeliner, then use eyelash glue to add sequins around your eye.

  1. Rosé’s T-Shirt Harness

In BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” music video and select performances, Rosé wears a t-shirt harness that their stylist customized using a college football shirt. It’s easy to replicate with any graphic tee and a belt – hold the shirt to your chest while you fasten the belt, then drape it over the front of the belt and adjust if needed.

  1. Somi’s Chic Ponytail

During performances of her hit “What You Waiting For,” Somi rocked a fun ponytail she brought to the next level with jeweled headbands. You can copy the style in minutes by putting your hair in a low ponytail, then braiding two small sections of it. Wrap one of the braids around the hair tie, then let one hang down. Top it with two slim headbands, whether it’s sparkly ones like Somi’s or simpler ones for an everyday look.

  1. Chaeyoung’s Jersey Dress

In the music video for Twice’s “Dance the Night Away,” Chaeyoung wears a fun dress made of a soccer jersey with layers of tulle as a skirt. You can get the look by layering a similar jersey or boxy top under a girly, delicate skirt or dress.
