On February 18, the NASA Perseverance Rover has made a successful landing on Mars. This act has been conducted by NASA for a long time, but it was not completed until now (hence why it may be called the “Perseverance” Rover). In honor of this milestone, the Krispy Kreme Doughnut chain is offering a unique type of doughnut; the Mars doughnut.
“The landing of the Perseverance Rover on Mars will be an epic and important achievement”, says Krispy Kreme’s Chief Marketing Director Dave Skena. “So we’re celebrating the best way we know how: with an amazing new doughnut discovery right here on Earth”. The Mars doughnut is designed to look like the red planet with red frosting dipped in caramel icing and sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumbs.
The Perseverance Rover is not only the first helicopter to be successfully placed on Mars, but it also carries the names of over 11 million NASA workers who aided in the rover’s success. To honor what Krispy Kreme calls the “future space travelers”, the company will give each NASA member a Mars doughnut on the house.
The Mars doughnut is only available for a limited time but the combination of red frosting, caramel, and cookie crumbs makes our mouths water just thinking about it. Leave it to Krispy Kreme to create a doughnut creation that is, simply put, “Out of this world”.
