2021 is truly the year of Jessica Vaughn, who you may recognize as 1/3 of the 90s-inspired Rvrside and the mastermind behind solo projects like JPOLND and LACES. She’s now delivering slick, honest synthpop as Jessy Jones with “Crying on the Dance Floor,” the first taste of her upcoming Sad Girl Disco Party EP due later this summer.
“This is my favorite song on the EP,” Vaughn shares. “I struggle with anxiety and mild depression and this track reminds me that all the answers I seek are within me. Sometimes the best remedy is to dance through the bullshit you’ve been selling yourself. Nothing feels more cathartic than moving your body and letting it all go.”
No matter what project of hers you check out, it’s guaranteed that Jessica Vaughn will be giving her all. Her JPOLND track “The End” went viral after a placement on Netflix’s Bridgerton, scoring over five million streams, and she tackles darker topics in her work while still maintaining a sense of control and elegance. On the business side of things, she runs her own Head Bitch Music label and is the VP of Sync and Creative at Heavy Hitters Music.
