Streaming Services: Disney+ vs Hulu

Disney Plus vs Hulu: Which is Best?

When it comes to platforms to stream your favorite television shows, there is a vast array to choose from. While Netflix had been the lead streaming platform throughout the early 2010s, more platforms had recently been established that provide a more optimal viewing experience. Two competing services are Disney+ and Hulu. But which streaming service amongst these two is superior? We aim to answer that question:

Disney+: For a company that seems to practically monopolize itself, Disney+ certainly delivers an exceptional streaming experience. Disney+ offers a catalog of shows with various genres such as action (Star Wars), Comedy (the Simpsons), documentaries (National Geographic), and adventure (Mandalorian). It also features live events from ESPN+ and are completely ad-free.

In terms of the overall viewing experience, Disney+ is no slacker as it provides 4K Ultra HD Streaming in Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos. In addition, according to reviewer Catie Keck, the service “allows for up to seven user profiles, simultaneous streaming on up to four devices at once, and unlimited downloads on up to 10 phones or tablets for offline viewing.” The buncle, therefore, accomodates for both families and singular households looking for a sufficient streaming service.

Hulu: Hulu has seen extravagant updates since its launch in 2007. Hulu’s library may not be as vast as Disney+ but it comes with exclusive, original series such as “Pen15”, “Castle Rock”, and “Difficult People”, all of which received positive reviews on “Rotten Tomatoes”. The platform comes with sports and news channels, providing over 60 live feeds from around the globe. Hulu also comes with “Content Hub” which allows up to 50 hours of DVD storage for recorded live television.

The package comes standard with up to two viewing screens, an additional $15 per month will allow for unlimited viewing screens. An additional $10 per month will allowing for streaming services such as HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and Starz. Keck also notes a vast selection of devices to view Live TV from such as “iOS, Android, Roku, Fire TV and Fire Stick, Apple TV (4th generation and older), Chromecast, select Samsung models, select LG TV models, and most major game consoles”.

While both Disney+ and Hulu are unique in their ways, we have to insist that Disney+ is the superior option. There is a wider array of programs to stream, whether original or not. It also provides better quality without the struggle of paying for extra services. While it can quite stressful choosing a service with the amount on the market, it is best to conduct research, especially with competing services, and deduce which platform matches your accommodations.
