And another couple from the Real Housewives franchise has bitten the dust — seemingly for good this time. In a shocking bombshell, reality TV stars Kim Zolciak, 45, and Kroy Biermann, 37, have filed for divorce, yet again, ending their high-profile marriage that had been a central focus of the hit show, “Don’t Be Tardy.” This news has left fans and followers of the couple surprised and saddened, as it appeared the couple had been on the mend following reports of their first breakup back in July 2023.
Kim Zolciak, known for her appearances on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and Kroy Biermann, a former NFL player, had been married for over a decade, capturing the hearts of viewers with their journey as a blended family. The couple’s relationship had been documented extensively on “Don’t Be Tardy,” showcasing their ups and downs, parenting moments, and extravagant lifestyle.
The prior announcement of their divorce came via a joint statement posted on both of their social media accounts. The statement read, “After much thought and consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. We will always cherish the incredible moments we’ve shared and our beautiful family, which we will continue to co-parent together. We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this difficult time.”
While the couple did not elaborate further on the reasons behind their decision to part ways, sources close to them indicated that the separation was amicable and that both parties were committed to maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship for the sake of their children. Zolciak and Biermann share four children together. However, rumors quickly began to circulate that the cause of their split stemmed from financial struggles which caused a strain on their marriage with Biermann implying that Zolciak’s spendthrift behavior was the catalyst for their money trouble.
According to Life & Style magazine, the ex-NFL star and the ATL socialite were $1.1. million dollars in debt to the IRS, facing unpaid taxes in combination with penalties and interest. There are also reports that the stars owe tax payments to the state of GA and have failed to make payments on their outstanding $217,443.32 loan where the bank moved forward in filing a lawsuit against the estranged duo. Despite their financial turmoil and pending drama following the allegations, Biermann and Zolciak ignited a firestorm when they called off the divorce.
Now, Kroy Biermann has moved forward in filing to dissolve their marriage for the second time stating their 12-year relationship is “irretrievably broken.” This comes from claims that Zolciak was allegedly abusive towards Biermann as revelations surfaced that the former RHOA celeb developed a gambling addiction that monetarily burdened their family while she claims Biermann struggled from substance abuse. There was even a brief incident where Zolciak called the police after Biermann allegedly locked her out of their mansion.
The retired linebacker is currently seeking sole custody of their four children, Kroy Jr. “KJ,” 12, Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9, along with child support and alimony. Sources also claim the couple has gotten “petty” over who hasn’t paid certain bills, a sad turn of events following the brief foreclosure of their Georgia home.
Recently, Zolciak was spotted out and about without her wedding ring, adding more speculation that all reconcilation between the couple has gone kaput and adding to the franchise’s track record of failed marriages.
Apparently, there’s a long history of married couples heading to splitsville after making their appearance on the show. This includes Eva Marcille’s breakup with ex-husband Michael Sterling who finalized their divorce August 3 after reports Sterling was also fighting to reconcile.
As the reality TV stars embark on their separate paths, fans are left wondering what lies ahead for both Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann. Despite the end of their marriage, it is clear that the impact of their time in the spotlight will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.
