The hallmark of a truly great song is its ability to make you feel something, and Christine Bauer’s magical “Call Me” will give you all the feels! Even as the rush of Valentine’s Day fades away, “Call Me” will inspire you to take that leap and throw away nonchalance in favor of taking action and moving toward the one you love. It’s a celebration of the power of the human connection, reminding you to “live like you could die” and seize the moment to make your feelings known.

“‘Call Me’ is the first song I’ve ever released that I didn’t write, but I connected with it so well,” Christine tells TREMG. “I’ve been in that position before where I’m all in and holding nothing back. I think everyone should feel that way at some point. It’s a magical and very vulnerable feeling and reminds us we are human. It reminds us to take chances and don’t be afraid to love.”

Whether it’s with an exhilarating guitar riff or her delightfully emotive vocals, Christine’s music takes you on a thrilling journey from start to finish, whisking you right into her creative world while also letting you connect her words to your own experiences. As she makes her way through collaborations with other artists, like Sarah Harralson, as well as her own music, you can hear Christine’s musical and personal growth, as well as her commitment to delivering a musical experience you’ll want to keep coming back to. 2023’s “Crumble,” for example, opens up with immediate confessions about love and loss before delving into her fears for future heartbreak. Meanwhile, “Call Me” moves into fearlessness and ambition when it comes to romance, showing how she’s turning her past pains into stepping stones to a better future as she makes her dreams come true.

“I really think ‘Crumble’ was my tower moment, a chance to let it all out so I can rebuild,” Christine explains. “These past few years, I’ve really focused on finding confidence and grace and trusting myself. It really prepared me as an artist and vocalist to step into the studio and record ‘Call Me.’ Now, as I gain momentum, I’m incredibly excited for what comes next.”

Hi Christine, congrats on the release of “Call Me!” How does it feel to share the song with the world and see how your fans are reacting?

Releasing “Call Me” has been SO MUCH fun!! I’ve loved every minute and hearing such positive feedback. It was such an honor to receive playlist placements on Spotify’s New Music Friday Country and Country Fresh Finds. I’ve also received some wonderful comments on social media. I’m glad to give everyone such a fun and vibin’ song to sing along to.

What does “Call Me” mean to you?

“Call Me” is the first song I’ve ever released that I didn’t write, but I connected with it so well. I’ve been in that position before where I’m all in and holding nothing back. I think everyone should feel that way at some point. It’s a magical and very vulnerable feeling and reminds us we are human. It reminds us to take chances and don’t be afraid to love.

One of our favorite things about “Call Me” is how well you captured the emotions of the song in your voice! How do you get in the right mindset before recording a song to make sure those feelings really shine through?

I always have a visual with any song I sing, whether it be a personal memory or the music video I’ve envisioned for it. So I picture that in my mind and connect with those feelings. I’m definitely an empath so it’s easy for me to do, as long as nerves don’t get in the way. I had a great vocal coach at the studio help me shake those nerves!

“Call Me” gives such sweet romcom vibes, so if there was a romcom based on the song, what do you imagine the plot would be?

Oh, that is such a good question! I’m gonna have to think on that one, maybe you’ll see it played out in a music video someday!

You recently performed “Call Me” on WSMV’s Today In Nashville, which must have been so fun! How do you prepare for a live performance?

Yes, it was a blast! I’m so grateful for that experience. I practiced for about a month leading up to the performance on my days off. I didn’t meet the guitarist, Tim Miller, until the day before, so I practiced along to a work tape he sent. I really had to envision the set and being recorded while practicing in my living room and I think that helped.

In addition to your own work, you’ve also co-written for artists like Sarah Harralson! Do you approach writing for other artists differently than writing for yourself?

Sarah and I have written just around 100 songs together and even went on tour for our collaborative album, West of Me, in 2019! We have developed our own routine of online writing which always starts with us catching up and then presenting an idea for a song. I’ve had a similar experience with my friend James Kelly as well as Paul Ray. When I write for myself, usually it’s more out of the blue and just hits me; usually it comes from emotions I’m processing or something I’m going through at the time. I tend to have a melody and hook first before finishing the song on guitar.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with your music already, which of your songs would you recommend to them to get a feel for who you are as an artist?

Hhmm, that’s another tough one. I tell people I’m an old soul with a young heart because I’m just that. I tend to love the sadder songs with more minor notes but also love a fun upbeat song. I would say with that said, listen to “Pretty Things” or “Up Against You.” I’m also loving this “Call Me” era I’ve stepped into though!

How do you feel you’ve grown as an artist since your last original single, “Crumble,” came out last summer?

I really think “Crumble” was my tower moment, a chance to let it all out so I can rebuild. These past few years, I’ve really focused on finding confidence and grace and trusting myself. It really prepared me as an artist and vocalist to step into the studio and record “Call Me.” Now, as I gain momentum, I’m incredibly excited for what comes next.

What can your fans look forward to in the rest of 2024?

Be on the lookout for more singles coming your way!! I’d love to make it to mainstream radio but I’m gonna need the fans’ help with that, so please keep following, sharing, and call in “Call Me” to your local stations.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention or say to your fans that the questions didn’t touch on?

You can find me on social media @christinebauermusic and my music is available on all streaming platforms! Thank you so much for this fun interview!
