There are blockbuster years, and then there are Anne Hathaway years. In 2026, Hathaway is having one of the biggest career renaissances in Hollywood — and, undeniably, one of the biggest years of any actress. With The Devil Wears Prada 2, Mother Mary, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and now The End of Oak Street, Hathaway has been practically everywhere. And with one more release slated before year’s end, the thriller Verity, she’s not finished! At this point, only Zendaya has had a comparable stranglehold on 2026’s pop-culture conversation.
But while Z may have her spider webs and sand dunes, Hathaway has added dinosaurs to the résumé…

David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street takes audiences back to 80s suburbia and adds prehistoric dino-mania on top of it. Hathaway and Ewan McGregor portray married couple Denise and Greg Platt, parents forced to protect their family from dinosaurs while trying to keep their union together as the world around them scuttles out of control in every direction.
But make no mistake: this isn’t Jurassic Park by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, there are more than a few action sequences thrown in, but at the heart of the film is a family fracturing from the inside out. Hathaway and McGregor are excellent as a couple on the verge of collapse, and their chemistry saves this film from being standard summer filler.

And who would have taken Hathaway for an action star? Hathaway puts those long limbs to work in this movie! She’s shooting, stabbing, derelict driving, and running from ancient, ferocious beasts with enough moxie to make you believe the terror is the real thing. That versatility is exactly why the year 2026 belongs to Hathaway almost as much as it belongs to Zendaya.

The End of Oak Street isn’t going to invent the wheel. Leave that to Spielberg and his mega-budget dino epics. This movie gets the job done on a much smaller budget and is definitely worth the price of admission. You will be scared, you will laugh, and you will root for this family from start to finish. A fun romp all around!
