Disney has rescheduled the already delayed New Mutants for an August 28, 2020 release date. The Josh Boone-directed movie will be the only wide-release entry before labor day weekend.

New Mutants was initially scheduled to release on April 13, 2018, before being pushed back to February 22, 2019, to allow for reshoots. Twentieth Century Fox would then delay the film again to August 2, 2019, to make room for Fox’s other X-Men film Dark Phoenix. Once Disney acquired Fox in March 2019, it seemed New Mutants wouldn’t see the light of day with it being outside of the Disney’s successful Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, director Josh Boone clarified earlier this year that the post-production of the film was complete and that it was ready for a theatrical release. Disney was forced to move the film from it’s April 2020 release due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which shut down theaters worldwide.

Directed by Josh Boone, New Mutants stars Massie Williams, Ana Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga.
