In an interview with Fox News on Friday, Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue rejected apologizing for praising President Donald Trump at the White House.

On “Fox & Friends,” Unanue explained to the co-hosts Steve Doocy, Emily Compagno, and Brian Kilmeade that “it was good to talk to some friends,” and further labeled the boycott movement “suppression of speech.”

After the hashtag #Boycottgoya was trending, some prominent Hispanic American leaders called for a boycott of Goya products.

In the interview, Unanue claimed a double standard to back his laudable remark about Trump. He noted he had accepted Michelle Obama’s invitation in 2012, which is was why he accepted Trump’s invitation where he expressed his support for Trump in a speech.

Unanue said “If you’re called by the president of the United States, you’re going to say, ‘No I’m sorry, I’m busy, no thank you?’ I didn’t say that to the Obamas and I didn’t say that to President Trump.”

President Trump is unloved by numerous Hispanic Americans. Many Hispanics are backing Vice President Joe Biden over Trump in the presidential race by a 36% point margin, according to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll.
