Fresh off their million-selling 2020 projects ; (Semicolon) and Heng:garæ, SEVENTEEN is back with their Your Choice mini album, which showcases their growth as a band since their 2015 debut. They’ve already sold over 7.5 million albums and collected over 2 billion streams, but if Your Choice is any indication, those numbers are only going to skyrocket in the next few years.
Fans’ first taste of the project came with two teasers of “Ready to Love,” the R&B-influenced lead single that the group will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on June 23rd. The track is their first time working with “hitman” Bang and Wonderkid, who are best known for their work with other boy groups like BTS, ENHYPHEN, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.
“‘Ready to Love’ is about feeling love for a person that I thought was a friend and being ready to courageously express my love,” vocalist DK shared at a press conference. The band brought this passion to life with a vibrant music video, which they released the same day as the EP:
Other standouts from Your Choice include the snappy “Anyone,” about refusing to let outside opinions influence a relationship, and the fun, hyperpop-esque “GAM3 BO1,” which members Mingyu, S.Coups, Vernon, Wonwoo, and Woozi, also known as the group’s hip-hop team, co-wrote. The EP is part of their “Power of Love” concept, their focus for 2021 that includes the May single “Bittersweet” by members Wonwoo and Mingyu. See the trailer for the “Power of Love” concept below:
Woozi explains, “We’d like to send the message of this theme to [our fans] with this project, the album Your Choice, and as well with the title track, which tells the story of professing our love in a courageous way to the person that got us to realize love. We will show you a much more mature expression of love, and in our project we will show you, of course, different forms, different sides of life, and also a multidimensional kind of love.”
You can find Your Choice on your favorite streaming services now, and be sure to catch SEVENTEEN’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night! You can also connect with the band on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
