BLACKPINK’s aptly-named project THE ALBUM shot to #2 on the Billboard 200 after its release last October, bringing k-pop fans eight energetic songs including collabs with Selena Gomez and Cardi B. A new version of the record reimagines these songs in Japanese, and BLACKPINK gave fans a taste of the undertaking this week with their rerecording of “Lovesick Girls.”

The Korean version of “Lovesick Girls” became a success worldwide, peaking at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100 while the girls performed it on several music shows in Korea as well as Jimmy Kimmel Live and Good Morning America. Members Jennie and Jisoo helped write the song, making it even more of a fan-favorite.

The Japanese version of THE ALBUM comes right around BLACKPINK’s fifth anniversary as a group, which they’re celebrating with a campaign called The 4+1 Project. During the celebration, BLACKPINK will be treating fans to surprises like a movie that will premiere in theaters worldwide.

Keep an eye out for THE ALBUM (JP Version) on August 3rd, and connect with BLACKPINK on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and their official website!
