The Media Is Evil And Is Dividing Us

Abraham Lincoln would be rolling over in his grave if he could see how divided our country currently is. After all, he’s the one who said “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I don’t expect to change anyone’s political views after reading this. Nor is that the goal. For I am a 23-year-old woman with a mere opinion that I so desperately want to share with anyone who takes the time to read this.

Many people believe that our country is divided because of the conflicting political views that both parties possess. Of course, this is part of the problem. However, I happen to believe that this divide mainly comes from the media. The definition of “news” in the dictionary is “newly received or noteworthy information, especially about recent or important events.” I beg to differ. Maybe it’s because I’m finally old enough to comprehend what I see and hear from the media, but it could also be that the media has gotten worse and worse over the years.

It’s as if the media slowly realized that they could pull our strings like marionette puppets and force us to believe whatever they throw on the news. What does the media get in return? Nothing other than a divided country. This, in my opinion, constitutes as an act of evil. So what exactly is this divide that I’m talking about? The divide is the differences between news channels. Specifically, the information that the media portrays about both Democratic and Republican parties.  I say “portrays”  because political channels are so different from each other that it’s hard to sort out what is factual and what is manipulated.

This is not to say that the media showcases things from out of nowhere. However, they strongly alter the way viewers perceive the information that they provide. As a result, both Democrats and Republicans have ill conceived notions about their opposing parties, and therefore, about people who vote for either Donald Trump or Joe Biden. The truth is, some peoples lifestyles are better off with Donald Trump as the president. While others, are better off with Joe Biden as the president.

CNN claims that Donald Trump has not paid enough money in taxes and that this is an enormous crime. Fox News claims that Joe Biden made millions of dollars a few years back and also did not pay enough money in taxes. So, instead of both parties hating each other because of this information, can’t people see that there is bad on both sides?

CNN claims that white people are joining the Black Lives Matter protests to murder and loot and that they use racism as an excuse to do so. Fox News claims that the Black Lives Matter movement is a radical political group that is murdering and looting and using their skin color as a means to justify their actions. Now even murder is political?

CNN claims that Trump is a racist. Fox News claims that Donald Trump donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to black communities.

The fact that there is one news channel condemning Joe Biden‘s actions only, and another channel that is condemning Donald Trump‘s actions only is enough to prove that the media wants a divided country. Democrats and Republicans used to be one party. Of course, there have always been political differences in the world. However, these differences don’t mean that Republicans are racist and Democrats are socialist. These differences don’t mean that white people should feel bad for being white and that black people should feel bad for being black. These differences don’t mean that the media can nitpick everything wrong with Donald Trump and everything wrong with Joe Biden and only portray their bad qualities on their opposing news channels.

State the facts. Sometimes there will be facts about the Democratic Party that prove they have evils and weaknesses and that they are uneducated in a lot of ways. Sometimes there will be facts about the Republican party that proves they have evils and weaknesses and that they are uneducated in a lot of ways.

Support who you want to support, but don’t deem your opposing party in the way that the media deems them. The belief system you possess should come from you and only you. Don’t be a puppet and be hypnotized by what the media is swinging at you from left to right.

The next time you say something opinionated and drastic in front of other people whose political views might differ from yours without you even knowing, understand that you are part of the divide. You are a media puppet. Don’t be a puppet. Be someone who understands that there is good and bad to all humans on Earth. Isn’t that what being human is all about? Sometimes these humans just happen to run for president.

If you are a Trump supporter, vote for Trump and be content with that. If you are a Biden supporter, vote for Biden and be content with that. If you are like me, a registered Independent, who should we vote for? Media, please give us an answer.
