8 Easy Halloween Treats to Make at Home

Halloween is slowly approaching and although we can’t have a huge party with costumes and many friends, we can always enjoy some recipes, savory or sweet, that will pair nicely with some Halloween movies.

1. Peanut Butter Cup Bats

The ingredients you will need are peanut butter cups, chocolate sandwich cookies and small decorative candy eyes.

Take the frosting off each chocolate sandwich cookie and put it in a small bowl. Next, break each cookie piece in half for the wings. Spread some of the frosting onto a corner of each cookie piece and place on top of the peanut butter cup. Lastly, put the candy eyes in the center of the peanut butter cup.

2. Spider Cupcakes

You will need a bowl of sprinkles, frosting of your choice, and a recipe for cupcakes or use a cupcake mix box, and a licorice of your choice and some red-hot candies.

First, make the cupcake recipe and let the cupcakes cool off. Put a good amount of frosting on each cupcake and dip the cupcake carefully into the sprinkles until perfectly coated. Finally chop up the licorice into medium sized pieces and stick a few on each side of the cupcake to create the spider legs and add hot red candy pieces for the eyes at the center of each cupcake.

3. Frankenstein Finger

You will need green chocolate melts, some almond slices, and long pretzel sticks. First, melt the green chocolate melts in the microwave for two minutes and mix until completely melted. Dip each long pretzel stick into the chocolate melt until coated. Add an almond slice on the tip of each pretzel to create the nail. Lastly, use a fork and drag it on the middle of the pretzel to create the knuckle for the finger.

4. Caramel Apple Slices

The ingredients you will need are apples, popsicle sticks, lemon juice, caramel bits, chocolate chips, coconut oil and sprinkles.

First, start by cutting apples into half inch slices, then wedge popsicle sticks through the bottom of the apple and squeeze lemon juice to stop from browning. Next, melt caramel bits in microwave for two minutes and mix until completely melted. Next, cover each apple slice with the caramel and let it cool. Finally add chocolate chips in a bowl with a spoon of coconut oil and put in the microwave to melt and drizzle over the apples, along with sprinkles, preferably orange and purple. Lastly, put apples in the fridge to cool and enjoy.

5. Devilish Eggs

You will need purple food coloring, hard boiled eggs, one tbsp of mustard, lemon juice, one ripe avocado and green food coloring.

First, put hard boiled eggs in a Ziplock bag and dip some food coloring and water into the bag, make sure to lightly squeeze each egg so it forms cracks. Mix the Ziplock bag until eggshells are coated. Peel eggshells and the egg whites will be a cool color. Cut each hardboiled egg in half and take out all the yolks and put it in a blender. Add the mustard, avocado, lemon juice, and green food coloring. Blend until the mixture is completely green. Put green filling into a pipe bag or zip lock bag with the corner cut off and fill each egg with the yolk mixture.

6. Witch’s Hat

Ingredients for this recipe are sugar cones, black chocolate chip melts, green food coloring, vanilla frosting, cupcake mix.

First dip the sugar cones in the melted black chocolate chip melts. Make the cupcake mix and let them cool. Mix the green food coloring with the vanilla frosting. Apply the frosting to the cupcakes. Put the cone on top of each cupcake and voila!

7. Frankenstein Heads

You will need big marshmallows, green melting chocolate, small pretzel sticks, black melting chocolate, and candy eyes.

First, you will dip the marshmallows into the green melted chocolate. While that cools cut the pretzels in half and stick a piece on both sides of each marshmallow. Melt the black melting chocolate and apply some on the top of each marshmallow to make the hair. Lastly put the candy eyes to make the face.

8. Jalapeño Popper Mummies

The ingredients for this recipe are ten jalapeño peppers, 8 oz. softened cream cheese, 80z pepper jack cheese block, ½ tsp minced garlic, salt and pepper, 1 scallion, candy eyeballs, Pillsbury crescent rolls.

First, preheat oven 400 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, wash, slice jalapeno in half and scoop out the inside. In a large bowl grate, the pepper jack cheese, chop scallion into tiny pieces, mix in cream cheese, garlic, pinch pepper and salt into the bowl and mix. Fill the peppers. Unroll crescent roll into rectangles use a pizza cutter to cut each crescent rectangle into four even pieces. Finally, wrap two pieces of crescent roll around each pepper, leaving opening and bake 10-12 minutes. When out of over to cool apply candy eyes in the opening.
