The Weeknd Shades Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson | StyleCaster

After two successful collaborated songs in “Off the Table” and “Love Me Harder” singer and actress Ariana Grande is dishing in and has released a new collaboration with The Weekend. The song, entitled “Save Your Tears”, was intended to be a remix of The Weekend’s “After Hours” album. The release date of the song was April 22 2021 at 9 PM Pacific Standard time.

Before its release, a tease of the song was posted on social media which presents an 8 second audio snippet of the song. Behind Grande and The Weekend’s harmonizing vocals, the lyric “I don’t know why I ran away” can be heard. While Grande notes that “The After Hours chapter is not fully finished yet, [we are] still tying up some loose ends”, based on the reputation of Grande’s works along with the reception of The Weekend’s album, we are very excited for this collaboration.

According to reporter Allison Olivia, “the song Blinding Lights from the album was the first song ever to spend an entire year in the Top 10 of the US Top 100 singles chart”. It had received further recognition after Super Bowl LV Halftime show. Grande, on the other hand, has been gaining popularity since her acting role as Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon series Victorious. After she began to focus on music, her singles have been on multiple Top 10 lists on Billboard and holds the positions for largest sales in one week at $2 million. She also works with former actress and current pop singer Demi Lovato on songs such as Met Him Last Night.

According to an interview by Apple Music, Lovato states how Grande has always been supportive of her career. “I remember playing Dancing With the Devil for Ariana back in 2019 when I was at her concert in London. We were backstage and she was so excited”, said Lovato. “She’s always been super supportive of me and my career, and its so awesome to have a friend like her in the industry. She started writing this song and immediately thought of me, so when she gave it to me, I was like ‘We should sing this together'”

Based on this interview, Lovato is certainly pumped for this collaboration. Will it be a new hit single? Will it define 2021? Based on the 21 million views it currently has, it is shaping up to be a success. Save your tears, Ariana, because the reception of this hit in its after hours may just be in your favor.
