New Orleans, LA: Dennis Barnes of the International High School of New Orleans, has completed more than his share of studies, having applied to over 125 various colleges and universities, including IV League names. Shortly after, Barnes took to WWL-TV reported that his inbox was stuffed with acceptance letters, many of which offered a massive scholarship. Upon investigating, Barnes had broken a record, receiving about 9 million dollars in scholarship offers and over 125 acceptance letters, breaking the former record of 8.8 million dollars in 2019.
“I started submitted college applications back in August with an eye on raising the bar high on college admissions rather than scholarships. My family believes I may be able to total $10 million when my applications are finished, but I don’t know about that. By the middle of May, I will have made my decision on what college to attend.
Barnes, a member of the National Honor Society, has maintained a grade point average of 4.97, meaning he is enrolled in numerous AP courses along with other extracurricular courses. Barnes is especially fond of Computer Science and Criminal Justice and reports that he plans to pursue a dual undergraduate degree in both fields. His teachers are also supportive with one letter of recommendation saying that Barnes has “grown into a hard working scholar and ideal student”.
“The road to a successful future”, says Barnes, “is to plan ahead, create networks with both your high school and college, and know that if you see your vision, you can achieve your goal. Enroll in extracurricular activities early; that way, you stand our amongst the crowd while honing in on your other skills and studies. That is the true key to success”.
