Let’s first define propaganda. It is the information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Back in March, the Conservative heavy Supreme Court of The United States, whose already responsible for removing federal protections behind Roe vs Wade, has taken up more free speech related cases to hear this term.

The Supreme Court has an opportunity to bring clarity to this state of affairs and defend free speech when it hears Murthy v. Missouri. The plaintiffs in Murthy allege that attempts by the Biden administration to pressure social media companies to remove speech, often under the guise of stopping “misinformation,” violate the First Amendment. The lower courts, which ruled against the Biden administration, found these efforts covered such topics as the origins of the Covid-19 virus, the wisdom of climate change policy, and even jokes about Jill Biden. For cases involving lawful speech—especially speech about public policy, government officials, and other matters of public concern—courts should abandon this focus on policing the line between “persuasion” and “coercion.” A request from a government official is inherently intimidating, particularly to any regulated industry or taxpaying individual. Around 1935, Nazi Germany, under the iron fist of Adolf Hitler, tightens its grip. Books are burned, journalists silenced, and dissenters disappear. This is the peak of political censorship, a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked power.

Look at this story coming out of Texas today regarding a librarian. Suzette Baker, from unincorporated Kingsland, was feted recently by the Authors Guild in New York City as a “Champion of Writers”—the first-ever recipient of a national award established to honor librarians who fight book bans. In 2022, she was fired from her job as a Llano County librarian after resisting orders to ban books and protesting against censorship. In response to Baker’s story, a local mom named Leila Leah Green and other library patrons filed a federal lawsuit, supported by the Author’s Guild. In 2023, they won a court order that forced county officials to restore eight of the 17 titles that had been removed from library shelves. (The American Prospect)

Activist and artist, Tahyira Savanna, has been an outspoken advocate for the use of shadowban tactics against fellow Black and Brown creatives since she was placed on an FBI watch list during 2017. She spoke out today on Instagram about the current change to their algorithmic content management of political information.

“It feels like a slap in the effin face really. Like how many times are we supposed to keep telling the country that the owners behind these apps are actively trying to distract you from your own reality. It’s already an issue in my day job as an educator and activist. As a teacher in the classroom, Im fighting tech addiction in ELA where my scholars cannot turn on their brains and think critically. They suck at reading. They think gaming and building things to sell online is their only concern. When I ask, and what happens when they block us from using apps we don’t own, it gets eerily quiet. I said what happens if there’s no wifi? Another shock value to pre teens and teenagers is that they cannot discern fake from reality. The Maga supporters were bamboozled into seeing content that was propaganda bias. I teach History as well. When we explain how Hitler formed the Reich, or how Jim Crow laws worked to erode American freedoms, they are unable to see that history as apart of their current events. As more and more cult programming is put forth, social media apps working to remove knowledge and information regarding politics feel purposeful. Why would you censor something people need the most? It’s like holding back medicine and letting people die from disease. The conservative plot to kidnap the America democracy started at the Tea Party when they shut down the US Government to hurt President Obama in his 2nd term. He told Zuckerberg that FB is responsible for dangerous disinformation. In 2021, national terrorists used these platforms to go violently go after Congressional members at Capitol Hill on January 6th. Still, nothing has been amended. The KKK did the same during the Reconstruction Era to the Freedman’s Bureau. Im all about awareness, it’s what I wrote my thesis on back at the University. I hope Americans pay attention to what is actually happening.”

We see echoes of 1935 in the rise of political censorship, albeit in a more subtle, less overt form. Online platforms censor content deemed ‘harmful,’ governments restrict access to information, and dissenting voices face consequences. Yet, the urgency to combat this trend seems muted.

What is Project 2025?

It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on day one of the next conservative administration.

This is the goal of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. The project will build on four pillars that will, collectively, pave the way for an effective conservative administration: a policy agenda, personnel, training, and a 180-day playbook.

On our next Special Report, ATTACKED: HOW THE UNITED STATES MEDIA’S ECOSYSTEMS CURATE HATE CRIMES, we break down four different programs found in the American media dating back to the 2nd McKinley Inauguration which was the first documented Presidential Election on camera. Gradual Erosion vs. Sudden Suppression is how we can summarize the last days of the Obama Administration into the Hillary Clinton campaign. Why were her emails constantly a subject of why voters should chose her over Donald Trump? The gradual erosion of freedom of speech, often justified by vague terms like ‘hate speech’ or ‘misinformation,’ can be perceived as necessary for societal harmony. Unlike the sudden, brutal censorship of Nazi Germany, this subtle chipping away makes it harder to identify and protest.

The Illusion of choice is how we can describe the use of the internet in 2024. While it has remained a platform for free expression, it has also become a tool for control. Algorithmic manipulation, data collection, and targeted advertising create an echo chamber where users are exposed only to information aligning with their pre-existing beliefs. We defined the use of echo chambers in the Special Report to help American voters try to break free from cult programming. Our first special report, traced the emotional link between conspiracy theories and those who share them. This creates an illusion of choice, making it harder for individuals to recognize the limitations imposed on their access to diverse perspectives. The same can be seen with normalization and apathy. The more folks chant, “Idk I’m not that political” or “Im tired of seeing stuff about Black Lives Matter” it only works to erode the daily work of volunteers and activists. “I’ve always believed the Black American voter was the most valuable, so I try to speak to their mindsets, it has resulted in my content being spammed with naked bots, as I see more naked Black women in media ride the wave of popularity to the top, they are saying without saying, Black women in clothes are not worthy of your time or worthy of an American audience.” She continued, “too many times my work as Tee Slaves is deemed way too political for entertainment, when in reality they keep serving up the same nakedness and violence in our music, Hip Hop, why can’t our stories ever change?”

The constant bombardment of information, often presented in a sensationalized manner, leads to a sense of desensitization. The normalization of censorship, even in its subtler forms, breeds apathy. We become accustomed to seeing warnings, filters, and restrictions, failing to recognize the gradual erosion of our freedoms.  The ‘Us vs. Them’ mentality is another way to analyze the replacement theory as seen in Fox News media reports.

While the specific methods and justifications may differ, the underlying danger remains the same: the suppression of dissenting voices, the control of information, and the erosion of individual freedom. We must recognize the subtle dangers of modern censorship and actively combat its insidious spread. The Holocaust is the response we hear here in the United States for Juneteenth. Most Americans are happy to discuss what happened to Jews in Europe but refuse to see how it affects Black Americans and other marginalized groups right here in North America and the United States.
