black road

By MARINE JABBOUR

Short Story

This is not a fictional story, but a story that stems from my imagination, my reality/

We meet a stranger on the road, in a restaurant, on social media/

It is strange how a person turns into a stranger many times after the first meeting/

A stranger to our thoughts, a stranger in his random behavior, a stranger when the night falls and its black veil brings us back after years to the first stage of alienation/

The alienation in love stories is different from that which we find deep in our souls/

We do not know how that stranger entered our lives, and how we accepted it but we know that without alienation we cannot live/

Today I chose to write in the plural form, knowing that each of us remembers a certain alienation of certain strangers/

I looked into his eyes and said: “I don’t want you, Walk and let your estrangement catch up with you”/
